7.8, everything is beautiful 🐝
"I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”, Leonardo da Vinci
Folks, summer is here, and there’s also a Beynaissance on the way. There’s mystery merch, and the girls are buying. The BeyHive is READY! And we finish up with a cover in British Vogue, because she’s THAT girl. The world may be slowly falling apart like a poorly constructed burrito, but for now, everything is beautiful and nothing hurts in the BeyHive. 🐝
I recently finished reading Leonardo Da Vinci, a biography by Walter Isaacson and so I’ll hopefully have some notes on that to share. Very interesting and insightful. I’d like to think that both Bey and I are in our Renaissance era. I love that for us.
Anyways, on with the links!

Are the Next Global Tennis Stars Among These Tweens?
With eight-figure fortunes potentially at stake, agents and scouts are evaluating and cultivating players even younger than 10 who are just getting started in serious competition.
Defoe (age 10), who is fluent in four languages, promised himself as a toddler that he would win the French Open. He has built his existence around giving himself the best chance to make that happen.
What to say when you don’t want to wild out at the office. Some of my faves include:
“I told you so” becomes “As per my prediction, this outcome does not come as a surprise.”
“What you are saying does not make sense” becomes “We seem to have a different understanding on this. Can you elaborate further on your thought process here?” ****
Thank you for your patience.
Why free stuff makes us irrational
In a study about free shipping in ecommerce, former Wharton School professor David Bell found that free shipping lulled buyers into financially unsound decisions. The consumers he studied preferred to save $6.99 and get free shipping, versus saving $10 on the purchase price but still pay for shipping, even though the savings would have been greater.
The Worlds We Create (podcast) (8 minutes)
This is the winning entry podcast from the student winners of NPR’s Middle School Student Podcast Challenge. It’s a short, funny observation of the way kids at Williams Middle School in Rockwell, Texas increasingly use social media, especially Instagram, to "talk digitally," instead of face-to-face.
"If it sounds like our town is boring, that's because it is. But let's zoom into the center of one of those neighborhoods, on Williams Middle School.”
The Evolution of Beyonce’s Marketing
Editor’s note: obviously written before the announcement…
The Beyhive is ready. It’s been six years since Beyonce’s last album, ten months since she said she was working on new music , and a few days since she deleted all her social media profile pictures. Once those profile pictures change, it’s a wrap. Her fans are already tracking probabilities and outcomes like Nate Silver on Election Night.

🤖 Welp! Google’s (allegedly) sentient now. Surely this is a great scientific advance and nothing bad will ever come from this.
